Classic SEGA voice clip from Sonic the Hedgehog
If you hold Circle as the game is loading until the Sega logo appears you will hear the original 'SEGA' voice clip which is played at the beginning of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive.

Unlock Clouds of Twilight Level
When you complete level 9A or 9B (Iceberg Base or Sea of Clouds) in Score Attack or Arcade mode with at least a 4 star rank the Sea of Twilight level will appear instead of the usual level that follows. To earn a star, complete a stage with at least 50% shot down. You will lose one star if you are shot down. You will lose ALL stars if you have to use a 'Continue'.

Unlock EX Options
The following special settings in 'EX Options' will become available when you meet the indicated condition during 'Arcade' mode. These options only affect Arcade mode games.
5 Game Credits:
Get a 'Game Over'.
7 Game Credits:
Get a 'Game Over' 3 times.
9 Game Credits:
Get a 'Game Over' 5 times.
Aircraft Count Decreased To 1:
Play a secret stage 5 times.
Aircraft Count Increased to 5:
Play a secret stage.
Aircraft Count Increased to 9:
Play a secret stage 3 times.
Aircraft Set To Highest Speed:
Play through 4 different branched stages.
Aircraft Set To Slowest Speed:
Play through ALL 8 different branched stages.
All Smoke Not Displayed:
Score over 1,000,000 points.
Always Advance To Secret Mission 14:
Play 'Emergency Orders' 20 times.
Armor Set At 1%:
Get a down rate of 70% 20 times.
Automatic Gun:
Complete Stage 3 Emergency orders.
Automatic Lock-On:
Reach the ending 10 times.
Automatic Missile Fire:
Reach ending 'A'.
Combo Set Till Death Or Stage Clear:
Get a combo totaling 3,000 points.
Combo Window Twice As Long:
Get a combo totaling 1,000 points.
Enemies No Longer Attack:
Shoot down 10,000 enemies.
Enemy Attack Leveled Down One Time:
Shoot down 1,000 enemies.
Enemy Attack Leveled Down Three Times:
Shoot down 5,000 enemies.
Enemy Attack Leveled Down Two Times:
Shoot down 3,000 enemies.
Fast Climax Gauge Recovery:
Activate Climax Mode 50 times.
Gun Power Down:
Shoot down 200 enemies with your guns.
Gun Power Up:
Shoot down 50 enemies with your guns.
Hide User Interface:
Score over 2,000,000 points.
Invincibility Against Enemy Fire:
Get a down rate of 70% 50 times.
Large Lock-On Cursor:
Reach the ending 1 time.
No Explosion Smoke Displayed:
Score over 800,000 points.
No Lock-On Cursor:
Reach the ending 5 times.
No Missile Recovery:
Fire a total of 2,000 missiles.
No Missile Smoke Displayed:
Score over 600,000 points.
Slow Climax Gauge Recovery:
Activate Climax Mode 100 times.
Take Half Damage:
Get a down rate of 70% 10 times.
Unlimited Climax Gauge Recovery:
Activate Climax Mode 200 times.
Unlimited Game Credits:
Get a Game Over 10 times.
Unlimited Missile Recovery:
Fire a total of 5,000 missiles.

Unlock Golden Valley Level
When you complete level 5 (Coastal Industrial Zone) in Score Attack or Arcade mode with at least a 4 star rank The Great River Valley level will appear instead of the usual level that follows. To earn a star, complete a stage with at least 50% shot down. You will lose one star if you are shot down. You will lose ALL stars if you have to use a 'Continue'.
